Our Water
Water is a precious resource all over the world. People have fought over for time immemorial. Water is precious to us as well.
Thanks to help from our local NRCS office, the ponds, streams, and streambanks on our farms are protected. They are sanctuaries for fish and wildlife that we have gone to great lengths and expense to preserve.
All surface water on our farms is fenced off from our livestock. They are not allowed access to any ponds or streams on our farms except when we have to transit a herd across a stream as part of a daily rotation, which happens a few times yearly.
All of our livestock drink well water - fresh and cool from Mother Earth herself. Because of that, any potential erosion issues along streams are avoided, as well as any disturbance of the fish and wildlife habitat therein. Not only that, the fresh, cool, clean water is just what our animals need to make them as healthy as possible.
